At Spatial Design we specialize in full scope residential design

Spatial design is the art of shaping how a space feels, not just how it looks. It considers how people move, pause, gather, and rest. Both indoors and out. From light and layout to materials and flow, it’s about creating environments that support the rhythms of real life and feel effortlessly aligned with the way you live.

Our goal is to create spatial cohesion. That means what you see, how you move, and how you feel are beautifully aligned.

Whether you're renovating a single space or transforming your entire property, we bring thoughtful design to every square foot.

elevating the way you live, inside and out

Step by Step

  1. Discover & Define – A call to understand how you live and what you love

  2. Walk the Space – Light, flow, and details assessed on-site

  3. Design Direction – Moodboards, sketches, and sourcing with your input

  4. Refinement & Planning – Honing every decision

  5. Install & Reveal – Where intention becomes reality

don’t rush to be done, design until it’s right

Josh Pelham

Creative Director

Hi, I’m Josh, an independent spatial designer based in the Lake Tahoe region of Northern California specializing in interior, outdoor, and full-property design. My focus is designing spaces that don’t just look beautiful, but feel right the moment you walk in.

I believe “How you do anything is how you do everything.”

At Spatial Design, we treat every square foot as an opportunity to create harmony between light and layout, function and feeling, indoors and out. To me, spatial design is about more than placing furniture or choosing finishes. It’s the thoughtful orchestration of how people move through a space, how they interact with it, and how it supports the rhythms of their life.

Design is the quiet, invisible layer that either supports your lifestyle or competes with it. I aim to design spaces that support, elevate, and inspire you.

While I lead the creative process, I collaborate with a trusted network of licensed, experienced, and design-aligned professionals including builders, craftsmen, and landscape specialists. Together we bring your vision to life with the highest standards of quality and care.

Our role is to lead with design. because when that foundation is strong, everything that follows feels effortless.

My own home was the first test of this philosophy. Every inch was designed to be lived in, loved, and layered with intention. It’s where I explored the principles of connection, calm, and cohesion that now guide every client project.

If that kind of design speaks to you, let’s start a conversation. The first step is a simple and zero pressure consult.
